Ethnicraft Furniture in Kelowna
Belgian-designed solid oak, teak and walnut, on the floor at Marshall's Home Living in the Okanagan.
Explore the CollectionThe Ethnicraft Story
Ethnicraft began in Antwerp in 1995, when Philippe Delaisse and Benoit Loos started importing a single container of furniture at a time from Indonesia. Within a few years they were designing and building their own pieces, and the solid teak collections that followed set the direction the brand still holds to: honest materials, quiet forms, and joinery meant to outlast the trend that produced it.
Every piece is made from solid oak, teak or walnut rather than veneered board, so the grain runs through the thickness of the wood and the surface can be refinished decades from now. Prototyping happens by hand in Belgium before anything reaches production in the company's own facilities.
Sustainability is structural rather than marketing here: FSC-certified teak, European hardwoods sourced under SLVK compliance, and refurbishment and resale programmes that keep pieces in use instead of in landfill.
