The Huppé Story

Huppé started in 1967 as a cedar chest maker, founded in Quebec by Raymond Hamel and his brothers Aurèle and Sylvio. Coffee tables came next, then wall units, dining rooms and bedrooms, and the company grew from a converted workshop into a manufacturer shipping across North America.

A change of ownership in 2010 reset the brand around contemporary design. Working with Joël Dupras as lead designer and collaborating with names like Karim Rashid, Shin Azumi and Luca Nichetto, Huppé built a range that stands against high-end European imports while being made much closer to home.

Pieces are built from North American hardwoods — cherry, ash, walnut and white oak — using solid wood components alongside hardwood veneers, which is what allows the range of finishes to run past eighty options. Tops can be specified in wood, glass, marble or ceramic, and orders are cut and assembled to spec in the company's own Quebec facilities.

The brand works with FSC-certified suppliers, keeps finishes low-VOC, and partners with Tree Canada on annual replanting.
