The Rene Cazares Story

Rene Cazares is an American furniture designer who put his own name on the company he started in 1986. Nearly four decades later the work still happens where it began, in a Los Angeles factory, with Cazares designing the pieces that carry the label.

The range splits into two halves that are meant to be specified together. Upholstery covers sofas, sectionals, chairs, chaises, ottomans, benches and beds; case goods covers dining and console tables, credenzas, desks, dressers, nightstands and mirrors. Both are built in the company's own Southern California plant, roughly 60,000 square feet of it, rather than sourced from elsewhere and badged.

What sets the brand apart for designers is the textile library. Cazares travels to assemble the fabric collection himself, and the same piece can be specified in fabric, in leather, or in a combination that plays one against the other. More than thirty wood finishes are available on exposed frames and legs, with brass and nickel hardware options on the pieces that show their construction.

Construction is deliberately old-fashioned where it counts: hand-cut frames, expert tailoring, and seating built for comfort that holds up rather than softening after a season.
