The Van Gogh Designs Story

Van Gogh Designs was started in 1993 by a small group of people who already knew the trade from the inside — interior design, foam, lumber, fabric and upholstery between them. Three decades on it is one of Canada's larger custom upholstery manufacturers, and it is still a British Columbia company.

Everything is made in a 125,000 square foot plant in Surrey, roughly four hours from our showroom floor. That matters for more than provenance: a domestic factory means shorter shipping, no cross-border delays, and a phone call rather than a container ship when something needs sorting out.

The process pairs old and new. Styles are drawn by an in-house CAD team and cut on CNC equipment for consistency, then upholstered by hand and inspected at every stage of production rather than only at the end. Frames are built solid, and the fabric range runs deep — you can also supply your own material if you have something specific in mind.

The range covers sofas, sectionals, sofa beds and chaises, accent and dining chairs, bar stools, ottomans, benches, and beds including storage beds. Most of it is made to order, which is why the fabric decision matters as much as the frame.
